In 1790 Limousin was divided into three districts,
Corrèze, Creuse and Haute-Vienne.
The Wishing Well is located in Corrèze district of
Limousin.
Limousin is an historic province of central France, located
in the north western part of the Massif Central. Rich pastures
are used for raising Limousin beef cattle, one of the leading
breeds of Europe. Other traditionally famous products of the
region are the tapestries of Aubusson and enamels and porcelain
from Limoges.
Corrèze
The department of Corrèze is located on the western
border of the Massif Central, in the southern part of Limousin.
It is one of the most densely wooded areas in France, there
are hundreds of delightful, unspoiled villages built of different
shades of granite - pale honey, pink, blue and miles of unencumbered
roads to motorcycle or walk. There are rivers and lakes galore
for fishing and swimming. The climate ranges from harsh in
the high lands in the north to the warmer, milder weather
of Aquitaine in the south. The summers are usually hot and
dry with the autumn radiant and golden.
Creuse
The department of Creuse is located on the north-western
border of the Massif Central it is one of France's best kept
secrets. With a landscape full of undulating hills, streams,
rivers, lakes and forest. Creuse remains virtually untouched
making it the perfect place to relax.
Haute-Vienne
The department of Haute-Vienne is located on the Vienne River
about 210 km (130 mi) northwest of Bordeaux, on the western
edge of the Massif Central. Limoges is its capital, and the
airport now provides flights from England and Europe via Ryan
Air.
